Mayakoba Revives Ancient Traditions for Three-Day Día de Muertos Event

The celebration centers on the local legend of Zunu, a hummingbird believed to guide souls between worlds. Guests can navigate Mayakoba's emerald lagoons during a curated nighttime boat procession, where floating art installations and live performances transform the waterways into a tribute to the past. This destination-wide programming replaces standard holiday festivities with a deeper engagement with Mayan heritage and local customs.

Culinary programming features a series of high-profile collaborations across the resort's four properties: Banyan Tree, Fairmont, Rosewood, and the newly opened Alila. Highlights include the "Dinner of Legends" at Banyan Tree, which pairs dark Mexican cuisine with ash-infused cocktails, and mixology takeovers at Rosewood’s Zapote Bar. Executive chefs, including Edgar Chávez, Alejandro Rodríguez, and Daniel Noguera, will be joined by Michelin-starred chefs Steven Molnar and Roberto Alcocer for exclusive dining events.
