ACCM Launches Medical Cannabis Legislative Toolkit for Policymakers

The toolkit serves as a centralized resource for congressional staff and regulatory agencies, covering topics from insurance integration and physician education to the protection of whole-plant cannabis products. Doug Benns, Executive Committee Chair of the ACCM, noted that the resource provides a practical foundation for legislators navigating a period of significant policy transition. Beyond documentation, the organization has launched a Legislative Response Team to assist offices with bill reviews, committee preparation, and the assembly of specialized panels including researchers, compliance experts, and patient advocates.

Dan Rush, a member of the ACCM Legislative Subcommittee, emphasized that informed decision-making remains critical to protecting the millions of patients currently reliant on existing state-level medical programs. The platform also details the 'Next Frontier' connection system, which aims to bridge the gap between dispensaries and the insurance industry.
