Ettifos Selected for Maricopa County Connected Vehicle Project

The Connected Vehicle Acceleration Zone (CVAZ) project centers on deploying 650 roadside units and 400 on-board units across key corridors, including Phoenix, Avondale, and US 60. By utilizing 5.9 GHz communications, the initiative seeks to establish a scalable blueprint for interoperable transportation infrastructure nationwide. Ettifos will supply its V2X-AIR aftermarket units, which allow existing vehicles to exchange safety data with roadside systems without needing factory-installed hardware.

This multi-vendor approach prioritizes functional safety applications, such as emergency vehicle preemption, transit signal priority, and protection for vulnerable road users. According to CEO Hojun Kim, the project serves as a critical test for proving that connected technology can function at scale beyond controlled testing environments. By bringing older vehicles into the ecosystem, the deployment addresses a major hurdle in adopting smart traffic management on a regional level.
