Dr. Squatch Reaches $9 Million Settlement Over 'Natural' Labeling Claims

The litigation, Guzman et al. v. Dr. Squatch, LLC, centers on claims that the brand’s shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, and soaps contained synthetic ingredients despite being advertised as natural. While Dr. Squatch has consistently denied any wrongdoing or liability, the company agreed to the settlement to bypass the costs and uncertainty of continued legal proceedings. The $9 million fund will cover payments to class members, attorney fees capped at $3 million, and administrative costs.

Eligible consumers must submit a claim form online or by mail no later than November 27, 2026, to receive a pro rata share of the settlement. Those who wish to retain their right to sue the company individually must formally opt out by October 13, 2026. The Superior Court of the State of California is scheduled to hold a final approval hearing on March 2, 2027.
