The Z4 aims to disrupt the middle-market aviation segment by cutting fuel consumption and emissions by half compared to traditional tube-and-wing designs. Designed to carry 250 passengers over a 5,000 nautical mile range, the aircraft is currently slated to enter service in the early 2030s. CEO Tom O'Leary stated the funding is specifically targeted at accelerating tooling and production capabilities to support the company’s reindustrialization goals.
Beyond the North Carolina facility, the capital supports the ongoing development of the Jet1, a full-scale demonstrator aircraft. As of June 2026, the build—conducted in partnership with Northrop Grumman subsidiary Scaled Composites—was 40 percent complete, with an inaugural test flight scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027. The company’s growth plan for its Greensboro factory remains aggressive, with projections to hire more than 14,000 employees over the next decade. For investors like Pinegrove’s Craig Caukin, the move represents a critical transition from experimental demonstration to large-scale production, with potential for further credit facility expansion as the program hits future milestones.
