The transaction sees ePointZero, a subsidiary of the 2PointZero Group, purchasing the ownership stakes currently held by Actis and Africa50. Amaya Capital, the firm that founded Azura Power in 2010, will retain a 10% minority interest to maintain its role in the platform’s future development. Completion remains subject to standard regulatory approvals.
Azura Power serves as a critical utility provider, generating approximately 10% of the grid baseload power in each of its three host countries. With electricity demand in Africa projected to double by 2040, ePointZero leadership identified the acquisition as a strategic move to capitalize on the continent’s industrial growth. The platform plans to utilize the existing management expertise and established relationships with national utilities to accelerate the construction of gas and renewable energy projects currently in the development pipeline.
