STARCARES Transforms Communal Elementary Basketball Court in Davao

The facility now supports 2,000 learners and 72 school staff, providing a functional venue for graduations, assemblies, and daily physical education. For the broader population of Barangay Communal, the court functions as a primary meeting point for civic activities and youth engagement. Principal Nelson Sepe Lubguban Jr. noted that the school previously relied on a cracked, uneven surface for these essential community events, highlighting the shift toward a safer environment for students and families alike.

Peter Karsten, CEO of STARTRADER, described the redevelopment as an effort to provide young people with a consistent space for development. This project follows similar infrastructure initiatives by STARCARES in Vietnam, Thailand, and Nigeria, marking a broader corporate strategy to invest in local public spaces.
