Finland has relied on previous iterations of the RBS 70 platform since 2008, but this latest order marks a significant technical shift. The RBS 70 NG introduces unjammable laser-guided missiles, an automatic target tracker, and integrated night-vision capabilities. These upgrades are designed to increase hit probability and allow for more flexible deployment against modern aerial threats.
Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, noted that the system provides a state-of-the-art solution to meet evolving security challenges. By securing this contract, the Swedish manufacturer deepens its decade-long role in bolstering Finnish domestic defense capabilities.
