PHOSGO Debuts Solar-Powered E-Bike Series on Indiegogo

Shenzhen-based mobility brand PHOSGO has launched the Go5 Series, the world’s first mass-produced solar-powered electric bicycle, on Indiegogo. Designed to bypass the limitations of grid-dependent charging, the bikes use wheel-integrated solar panels to extend range for long-distance adventurers and daily commuters alike.

PHOSGO Debuts Solar-Powered E-Bike Series on Indiegogo

The Go5 Series, which follows a nine-year research and development cycle, aims to solve the primary hurdle for electric bike owners: finding a wall outlet in remote locations. By utilizing proprietary Conductive Hub Technology, the bikes capture energy while parked or in motion, with peak solar capacity reaching 200 W. The system uses Back-Contact solar cells boasting an efficiency rating exceeding 26 percent, managed by an intelligent MPPT controller that dynamically balances power between the motor and battery.

PHOSGO is offering two distinct models tailored to different riding needs. The Go5 Ultra, aimed at rugged terrain and extended tours, features a 750 W Bafang mid-drive motor and a 720 Wh battery, providing an estimated combined range of 140 miles under optimal conditions. The Go5 Pro, designed for lighter travel and weekend trips, utilizes a 500 W motor and 480 Wh battery for a combined range of 110 miles. Both versions are equipped with smart IoT modules, including GPS and 4G connectivity, allowing users to track their bikes and monitor battery health through a dedicated mobile application.

Following a VIP reservation phase, the series is now open for public backing. Early adopters can secure the Go5 Pro at a starting price of 1,899 dollars, while the more powerful Go5 Ultra is available at 2,499 dollars. The company plans to roll out regional configurations to comply with specific electrical and speed regulations in the European Union, Australia, and the United States.
