PlanetiQ to Lead Industry Sponsorship at IROWG 2026 Symposium

PlanetiQ will serve as the lead industry sponsor for the 11th International Radio Occultation Working Group workshop, held from September 10 to 16, 2026, at Seggau Castle in Austria. The event gathers global researchers and operational meteorologists to advance GNSS-based atmospheric monitoring and weather prediction technologies.

The Colorado-based firm plans to showcase nearly a dozen research presentations during the week-long symposium. Contributions from PlanetiQ scientists will focus on technical breakthroughs in GNSS Radio Occultation (GNSS-RO) and GNSS-Polarized Radio Occultation (GNSS-PRO), addressing challenges such as atmospheric ducting in tropical cyclones, ionospheric data processing, and bending angle climatology.

Ira Scharf, CEO of PlanetiQ, emphasized that the precision of weather forecasting relies directly on the quality of atmospheric data. The company currently produces high-volume, high-resolution profiles that reach deeper into the lower troposphere than many existing datasets. This information is integrated into major global systems, including those maintained by NOAA, the UK Met Office, and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. By supporting the IROWG, PlanetiQ aims to foster deeper collaboration between the commercial sector and international meteorological agencies to refine the three-dimensional modeling of the Earth's atmosphere.
