Plaintiffs contend that while management publicly touted innovation-driven growth and superior performance for its AI tools, the reality was a ballooning cost structure that eroded margins. By mid-May 2026, those internal pressures culminated in a $1.1 billion wipeout of the company’s market capitalization.

Financial disclosures revealed that non-GAAP sales and marketing expenses surged 88% year-over-year to $190.7 million, dragging non-GAAP operating margins down from 21% to 5%. During the subsequent earnings call, leadership conceded that the Harmony platform suffered from missing capabilities and development delays. These shortcomings allowed competing AI-based 'vibe coding' tools—which enable users to build websites via plain-language prompts—to siphon away professional developer customers. Hagens Berman, the firm leading the litigation, is now investigating whether Wix intentionally obscured the negative impact these AI initiatives had on the company’s core business health.
