Emergency Nurses Association Releases Updated Pediatric Training Course

The updated curriculum focuses on clinical readiness, integrating practical strategies to help nurses navigate high-stakes scenarios. ENA President Dustin Bass noted that the course provides the specialized expertise necessary to recognize and respond to the unique physiological needs of younger patients, ensuring consistent care quality regardless of a facility's location or size.

First introduced in 1993, the program now includes a dedicated chapter on shock and expanded coverage of tuberculosis, brief resolved unexplained events, and environmental emergencies like heat or cold-related stress. The latest edition also features a restructured global health chapter and a refined assessment tool. Nurses who complete the program receive a four-year verification and 19 continuing education credits.
