Health Net Grants $900,000 to Pear Suite for Medi-Cal Infrastructure

The investment provides community-based organizations with access to Pear Suite’s digital platform, which acts as a turnkey solution for assessing social needs, coordinating referrals, and managing preventative care. By streamlining these administrative tasks, the grant reduces the burden of navigating complex, fragmented systems that often hinder small providers from participating in the Medi-Cal program. This initiative specifically targets the infrastructure required to transition organizations into formal Medi-Cal providers of doula and community health worker services.

This allocation marks an expansion of an ongoing collaboration between the two entities, with Health Net having invested over $1.9 million since 2023 to bolster community-based outreach. Colby Takeda, CEO of Pear Suite, noted that the funding provides the necessary training and tools for organizations to prioritize member engagement over paperwork. California Assemblywoman Stephanie Nguyen added that the infusion of resources strengthens the state’s healthcare safety net by ensuring that trusted local partners can reliably connect residents to essential social services and medical support.
