Tina D'Agostin, CEO of Alcatraz AI, argues that the industry has fundamentally failed to secure the physical perimeter. "Every company spent a decade locking down the network, but we never locked down the door," she said. The stakes are immense, as the average cost of a data breach in the United States has climbed to $10.22 million. With more than half of the 17 U.S.-based hyperscale data center operators now turning to AI-powered authentication to solve this, the shift reflects a growing realization that human-staffed security is no longer sufficient to stop sophisticated intrusions.
Alcatraz AI, which provides facial authentication that integrates with existing systems without storing personal imagery, is positioning itself as the industry standard for high-security environments, including nuclear infrastructure and financial institutions. As high-profile breaches at sites like 30 Rockefeller Center underscore, the risk of credential misuse is universal. The company intends to release further findings on public sentiment toward physical security at the GSX 2026 conference in Atlanta this September, highlighting the gap between modern digital risk and outdated physical access habits.
