Sogang University Eliminates Tuition for International STEM Scholars

The program functions by stacking two separate awards: a 50 percent scholarship from the Seoul ANCHOR Project and an additional 50 percent from the Sogang Global Scholarship. While mandatory admission fees remain the student's responsibility, the waiver removes the primary financial barrier for candidates targeting master's or doctoral degrees. Beyond tuition, the track provides grants for language proficiency, research publication, and professional internships, designed to bridge the gap between academic study and local industry integration.

Located in the heart of Seoul, the university currently hosts roughly 250 international students among its graduate population of 2,000. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education’s broader push to attract foreign talent into advanced future industries. Beyond the new STEM track, Sogang maintains a tiered scholarship system for students meeting specific proficiency benchmarks in TOPIK, IELTS, or TOEFL, offering coverage ranging from 30 to 80 percent of tuition. Applicants are expected to meet standard degree requirements, though the university offers language-test exemptions under specific conditions.
