Brightn and OpenLoop Partner to Integrate AI Wellness with Clinical Care

Mental health platforms Brightn and OpenLoop are launching a nationwide collaboration to bridge the gap between daily emotional check-ins and professional therapy. By embedding OpenLoop’s clinical network directly into Brightn’s AI-driven app, the companies aim to transform how employers provide mental health benefits for their workforces.

Brightn and OpenLoop Partner to Integrate AI Wellness with Clinical Care

The partnership addresses a persistent void in behavioral health: the 167 hours of the week when patients are not in a therapist’s office. While global economic losses tied to depression and anxiety reach nearly $1 trillion annually, traditional employee assistance programs often suffer from low engagement. Brightn’s platform provides daily AI-guided journaling and mood tracking to help users identify emotional patterns, while OpenLoop facilitates seamless access to licensed clinicians when professional intervention becomes necessary.

This integrated model aims to shift mental health support from reactive crisis management to consistent, preventive engagement. In a pilot study conducted by Dr. Richard Lopez at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, participants using Brightn reported a 36.1% reduction in depression symptoms and a 15.3% decrease in anxiety. The partnership creates a direct digital pathway for users to schedule and pay for therapy sessions without exiting the wellness app, ensuring that clinical care remains a normalized step in a broader mental health strategy rather than a last-resort measure.
