BayPort Credit Union Expands to Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Virginia Beach City Councilmember Worth Remick joined company leadership and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce to open the facility, which provides a full suite of banking, lending, and investment services. The expansion follows the credit union's recent transition to a federal charter, a move designed to extend its reach to a broader range of businesses and families beyond its original service area.

BayPort now serves more than 18,000 members across its six Virginia Beach locations, including existing branches on Little Neck Road and Lynnhaven Parkway. President and CEO Jim Mears stated that the new location aims to integrate the credit union into the vibrant Oceanfront community as both a financial provider and a local partner. Founded in 1928 by Newport News Shipbuilding employees, the organization currently manages $2.7 billion in assets and operates 31 branches throughout Virginia.
