Odyssey Wine Academy Joins Commonwealth to Expand Sonoma Wine Education

Since its founding in 2022, Odyssey Wine Academy has operated as a regional hub for WSET programs and tasting classes. Under the new arrangement, Odyssey students gain access to Commonwealth’s digital infrastructure, which includes recorded lectures, interactive quizzes, and specialized study resources for the rigorous WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines. This integration effectively bridges the gap between local, in-person instruction and the comprehensive tools required for high-level certification.

For Commonwealth, the merger solidifies a growing West Coast footprint that already includes San Francisco. Jessica Sculley, founder and director of Commonwealth, noted that the Healdsburg location serves as a strategic extension of the community established by longtime educator Adam Chase. Starting in the fall of 2026, the academy will transition its primary classroom operations to the Maison Wine Bar in downtown Healdsburg, streamlining the learning experience for both hospitality professionals and local enthusiasts.

Julie Rothberg, who launched Odyssey, emphasized that the goal is to provide a more cohesive educational journey. By combining local expertise with the school’s national platform, the partnership seeks to make advanced beverage studies more accessible to students throughout the North Bay. Enrollment for the upcoming September 2026 term is currently active through the Commonwealth Wine School website.
