The initiative marks the first major consumer benefit stemming from Hyundai's role as a founding partner in the IONNA joint venture. To encourage early adoption, IONNA is offering an additional 10% bonus discount on top of the standard reduction for all charging sessions completed before September 30, 2026, bringing the total savings to 20% for a limited period.
Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president of product planning at Hyundai Motor North America, stated that the program aims to eliminate friction at the charger by removing the need for manual codes or complex payment calculations. The discount applies to specific models, including the 2022 and newer IONIQ 5, the 2025 IONIQ 5 N, the 2026 IONIQ 9, and the 2025 KONA Electric. Select Genesis vehicles, such as the 2026 GV60 and Electrified GV70, are also included in the rollout. IONNA, which counts BMW, Honda, and Mercedes-Benz among its other founding automakers, plans to deploy 30,000 charging points by 2030 to bolster the national EV infrastructure.
