Dr. Ken Margulies, president of the HFSA, noted that the selections reflect the broad spectrum of talent currently driving heart failure care, from established experts to early-career professionals. Gregg C. Fonarow of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Lynne Stevenson of Vanderbilt University is set to be honored with the Distinguished Mentor Award.
Nursing leadership awards will be presented to Joy Coles of the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital and Windy Alonso of the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Additional individual honors include the Distinguished Service Award for Amrut Ambardekar of the University of Colorado Health and the Outstanding Fellow in Training Award for Fadi Adel of the Mayo Clinic. The society also recognized the Prisma Health Upstate Advanced HF Team and the Sharp Memorial Hospital HF GDMT/TOC Services Team for their collaborative care contributions, alongside Rising Star recipients Vanessa Blumer and Nosheen Reza.
