JA Solar powers New Zealand’s largest rooftop PV installation

The project, spearheaded by renewable energy developer Sunergise, required precise logistical coordination to manage the scale of the installation. JA supplied its DeepBlue series modules, which have maintained stable output since commissioning. Sunergise CEO Paul Makumbe noted that the scale of the rooftop array demanded a partner capable of navigating complex technical requirements and on-site construction hurdles.

This deployment reflects a broader surge in New Zealand’s renewable sector. Chinese customs data reveals that PV exports to the country climbed from 365.5 MW in early 2025 to 735.5 MW a year later, effectively doubling market capacity. For JA, the project serves as a case study for its expansion strategy, proving the durability of its hardware in challenging environments while helping healthcare manufacturing transition away from fossil fuel reliance.
