Meijer Opens Food-Focused Grocery Store in Livonia

A new 75,000-square-foot Meijer Grocery store opened today at 33500 Seven Mile Road in Livonia, Michigan. The outlet, which is less than half the size of a standard Meijer supercenter, represents the retailer’s fifth dedicated grocery-focused location in the Midwest and its fourth within the state.

Store Director Sharron Griffin welcomed the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the debut of a footprint designed specifically for streamlined, food-focused shopping. The interior houses essential departments ranging from fresh produce and daily-cut meats to a full-service pharmacy and floral shop. To emphasize regional ties, the store features a "Local Favorites" endcap highlighting Southeast Michigan brands such as Faygo Soda, Better Made Snacks, and Downriver Chips.

Beyond basic inventory, the site integrates digital shopping tools like the Shop & Scan mobile app and the Flashfood platform for surplus food discounts. The company also implemented accessibility upgrades, including height-adjustable changing tables and Aira service for blind or low-vision customers. To mark the opening, the company presented $15,000 in donations to Anastasia & Katie’s Coffee Shop and the Breaking Barriers Food Pantry. The location will continue its community outreach through the Simply Give hunger relief program, partnering with the Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church food pantry through September 26.
