The rebranding initiative introduces a warmer visual identity, featuring a new flag-inspired logo intended to symbolize advocacy and equitable access to justice. According to CEO and co-founder Hunter Steele, the change is an attempt to align the company’s public image with the reality of its clients—families, small business owners, and individuals seeking legal recourse. Steele emphasized that the shift is not a reinvention of the firm’s core operations, but a more accurate articulation of the purpose that has driven the company since its 2012 founding.
While the aesthetic and messaging have been overhauled, the underlying software functionality remains unchanged. Smokeball continues to leverage its AI matter assistant, Archie, and an extensive library of 20,000 automated forms to reduce drafting time for law firms. The company, which maintains headquarters in Sydney alongside offices in Chicago and London, plans to deploy the new brand across its website and product interfaces effective immediately.
