The Minima Stent System, which received FDA approval in August 2024, is the first balloon-expandable growth stent engineered specifically for neonates and young children suffering from pulmonary artery stenosis or coarctation of the aorta. By design, the device addresses a critical clinical gap where pediatric patients were previously treated with implants intended for adults, often necessitating repeated, invasive procedures as the child outgrew the hardware.
Since its commercial launch, the system has seen adoption rates that exceeded company projections, according to CEO Dustin Armer. The financial backing arrives on the heels of a 2025 decision by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to grant the device a New Technology Add-on Payment designation, effectively increasing reimbursement support for hospitals. André-Michel Ballester, Managing Partner at ARCHIMED, noted that the investment reflects the platform's potential to resolve long-standing unmet needs in pediatric cardiac care. Renata Medical plans to use the new funds to scale its U.S. presence, enter global markets, and continue building clinical evidence for its growing portfolio of purpose-built therapies.
