This year’s cohort joins a decade-long initiative that has invested $23.9 million across 63 projects. Beyond capital, the program grants researchers access to a collaborative network designed to bypass traditional academic barriers. According to CEO Dr. Karen Knudsen, the initiative focuses on supporting investigators willing to challenge conventional thinking to accelerate the development of next-generation immunotherapies.
The 2026 class includes four Parker Scholars and one Parker Bridge Fellow. Sophie Louise Gray-Gaillard at the University of Pennsylvania and Maxime Meylan at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are both mapping the complex spatial organization of tumor microenvironments to improve T-cell infiltration. Meanwhile, Jingya Qiu of Gladstone Institutes is leveraging digital pathology to identify early signs of cancer, and Xinyu Xiang of Stanford Medicine is engineering T-cell receptor mimetics. At Dana-Farber, Shaobo Yang is developing "living medicines"—tumor-homing bacteria designed to bridge the gap between cancer cells and the immune system.
