The collaboration marks a strategic shift for Vision Marine as it moves beyond simple electric motors toward a comprehensive vessel management system. By connecting propulsion with steering, helm controls, and safety sensors, the project seeks to automate complex tasks such as object recognition, route planning, and auto-docking. While the partnership is currently non-exclusive and operates without a formal binding agreement, both firms are treating the STERK 31E as a proving ground for future commercial applications.
Engineering teams are currently focused on system interfacing and dockside commissioning before moving to full on-water validation. Alexandre Mongeon, CEO of Vision Marine, noted that the goal is to transform E-Motion from a standard electric replacement into a core component of a connected, intelligent marine architecture. If testing proves successful, the companies intend to showcase the integrated technology at the International BoatBuilders' Exhibition & Conference in Tampa this October, signaling a broader intent to offer these features as an upgrade for other compatible twin-motor vessels.
