Florida Inventor Replaces Hospital Gown Snaps with Velcro

A Homosassa resident has developed a hospital gown featuring a Velcro-based closure system, aiming to replace traditional metal snap fasteners. The design seeks to assist patients struggling with limited manual dexterity, allowing for quicker positioning and removal while fostering greater independence during clinical or home-based recovery stays.

The invention, dubbed VELCRO GOWNS, addresses the mechanical frustrations often encountered with standard medical apparel. By removing the need to align and secure tiny, complex fasteners, the garment simplifies the dressing process for those with restricted hand movement or weakened grip strength. Beyond functional utility, the creator notes that the change offers a psychological benefit by reducing the dependency on staff for basic clothing management.

Currently, the concept is being managed by InventHelp’s Tallahassee office and is open for licensing or acquisition by medical apparel manufacturers. Interested parties can reach the firm at their Pittsburgh headquarters via the reference code 25-TLS-1385 or by contacting their licensing department at (412) 288-1300.
