Skanska secures $957 million light rail contract in Los Angeles

The infrastructure project centers on a 10.8-kilometer at-grade rail line running along Van Nuys Boulevard. Construction plans include 11 new stations equipped with shade structures, alongside utility upgrades and a 10.5-hectare maintenance facility. This expansion aims to bridge high-density neighborhoods with the broader Los Angeles County rail network, providing a direct link to the existing G-Line bus route.

Work on the transit corridor is already underway, with a scheduled completion date of December 2031. The project serves as a significant attempt to modernize public transportation options for residents in the San Fernando Valley region who have historically faced limited connectivity to the city’s wider transit system.
