IASO Bio Acquires MediSix to Scale Global Cell Therapy Pipeline

Nanjing-based IASO Biotechnology has finalized its acquisition of Singapore’s MediSix Therapeutics, a move designed to merge advanced T-cell engineering with large-scale manufacturing. The deal aims to accelerate the development of proprietary cell therapies targeting hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, and autoimmune conditions on an international stage.

The integration brings MediSix’s proprietary Protein Expression Blocker (PEBL) platform into the IASO Bio portfolio. Developed by Professor Dario Campana at the National University of Singapore, the PEBL technology addresses a critical hurdle in immunotherapy by preventing fratricide among CAR-T cells, allowing for more precise targeting of antigens. This innovation is expected to bolster IASO Bio’s existing pipeline, which currently includes 10 products such as the commercialized Equecabtagene Autoleucel.

Zhang Jinhua, CEO of IASO Bio, noted that the acquisition leverages the company’s CMC and clinical development infrastructure to fast-track MediSix’s lead program, IASO107. By absorbing the Singaporean team’s R&D expertise and existing international network, IASO Bio intends to shorten the gap between laboratory discovery and commercial rollout for complex cell treatments. Investors in MediSix, including ClavystBio and Lightstone Ventures, cited the cross-border synergies as a primary driver for the merger, banking on the combined entity’s ability to scale production for global patient access.
