Insta360 Launches X6 Flagship 8K Camera

Marking a decade of market dominance, Insta360 has unveiled the X6, an 8K 360-degree camera designed to consolidate gimbal, action, and panoramic shooting into one device. Available starting August 12 for $699.99, the flagship model introduces dual Sony 1/1.1-inch sensors and an advanced triple-chip AI processing architecture.

The X6 represents a significant hardware shift for the manufacturer, which currently commands a 71% value share of the global 360 camera market. By utilizing custom sensors that provide a 33% increase in surface area over the previous generation, the device achieves a 1-inch equivalent imaging performance. This setup is managed by an 8-core 3.3GHz processor, which the company claims delivers 500% more computing power than the X5 while reducing power consumption by 35%.

Beyond raw optics, the integration of native Dolby Vision and the PanoMind AI model allows the camera to perform automated scene analysis and highlight editing directly on the device. Users can capture footage at 8K resolution at 50fps, or switch between 360-degree, single-lens action, and gimbal-tracking modes via a magnetic mounting system compatible with over 100 existing accessories. The unit also features a 2600mAh battery capable of 140 minutes of continuous 8K recording and is rated for waterproofing up to 20 meters without an external case.
