St. Luke’s Unveils $252 Million Heart Hospital in Bethlehem

The 355,000-square-foot facility, built entirely with American steel, serves as a massive expansion for the 500-acre campus. Inside, the hospital houses four dedicated heart operating rooms, a hybrid suite, and 10 interventional suites for cardiac catheterization and radiology. These spaces are supported by advanced equipment, including specialized imaging technology, heart-lung machines, and ECMO units for long-term cardiopulmonary support.

Beyond clinical capacity, the project emphasizes staff efficiency and medical education. Designers integrated internal service corridors to streamline supply logistics, while the facility creates space for a new cardiac fellowship program. The expansion also benefits the broader Anderson Campus by adding a rooftop helipad and a larger cafeteria. This development continues a growth trend for the network, which has opened five full-service acute care hospitals in recent years, the highest volume of any system in Pennsylvania.
