Immunic reported a net loss of $34.1 million for the second quarter of 2026 as the company intensifies its clinical development efforts. Research and development spending climbed to $25.9 million, driven largely by preparatory work for potential regulatory filings and ongoing drug-drug interaction studies. Management maintains that current cash reserves of $155.1 million provide sufficient runway to fund operations into late 2027.
The company’s strategic focus centers on vidofludimus calcium, an oral therapy with a dual mechanism of action. CEO Erik Lundgren, who joined the firm in June, is leading the transition toward commercial readiness. Along with new Chief Medical Officer Michael A. Panzara and Board Chair Michael W. Bonney, the leadership team is prioritizing the completion of the Phase 3 ENSURE trials. If the data arrives as expected by the end of 2026, the company plans to move toward a U.S. New Drug Application by mid-2027.
