Andy Gotts Brings Unfiltered Celebrity Portraits to Santa Barbara

Opening August 27 and running through November 30, 2026, the collection serves as a three-decade retrospective of Gotts’ career. The photographer, an MBE appointee, rejects airbrushing and filters, opting instead for a raw, visceral approach that emphasizes the natural lines and imperfections of his subjects. Beyond standard prints, the display includes original contact sheets marked with grease pencil, revealing the selective process behind his final images.

The exhibition is categorized into thematic groups including Divas, Kings of Stage, Guitar Gods, and Rhythm & Soul. Six rare pieces in the collection hold additional value, as they are co-signed by both Gotts and the legends depicted, such as B.B. King, Ronnie Wood, and Liam Payne. El Encanto general manager Chris Saputo noted the significance of the residency, citing Ringo Starr’s previous description of Gotts as the “Ansel Adams of faces.”

To mark the debut, the resort has introduced a themed suite package for guests booking between August 27–30. This experience includes access to a launch party, private dinners with the artist, and stays in rooms curated to match the exhibition’s four themes.
