The campaign, supported by the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and Honda Marine, seeks to address the critical lack of funding for childhood cancer treatments. Captain Red is currently navigating a custom 30-foot Portā DARK:30 Velocity boat, attempting to surpass his previous speed record of 19 days and 19 hours. The mission highlights the urgent reality of pediatric oncology, where 43 children are diagnosed with cancer every day.
NPCF CEO David Frazer emphasized that the expedition serves as both a test of endurance and a platform for advocacy. By expanding the route and re-engaging the public, the foundation aims to accelerate the development of less toxic, targeted therapies. Supporters can track the vessel’s progress online and contribute to the fundraising goal, which directly supports research collaborations across national medical institutions. Every mile logged by the captain serves to keep the spotlight on the 43 children diagnosed daily, turning a record-setting maritime challenge into a lifeline for families in treatment.
