The collaboration connects diverse data streams—ranging from equipment sensors and process controls to supply chain logistics—into a single, coherent environment. According to Vishal Mehra, GlobalFoundries’ Chief Information Officer, the partnership addresses the need for the increasingly complex manufacturing operations required in modern chip production. By centralizing this data, the firm expects to improve operational visibility and accelerate decision-making across its international footprint.
Beyond basic data streaming, GlobalFoundries is utilizing Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane to develop specialized AI agents. These tools are designed to automate tasks and provide actionable insights across IT and procurement departments. Redpanda CEO Alex Gallego noted that the platform is engineered to provide the strict governance and confidentiality standards inherent to semiconductor manufacturing, while allowing both human teams and autonomous AI agents to interact with live data simultaneously. Tier-0 systems are already operational, with plans to scale the integration further as the company embeds real-time analytics into its core workflows.
