Investors File Class Action Lawsuit Against Intuit Over Revenue Claims

A class action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California alleges that Intuit Inc. misled investors regarding the company's competitive strength and growth projections, specifically concerning its TurboTax segment, between August 22, 2025, and May 20, 2026.

Investors File Class Action Lawsuit Against Intuit Over Revenue Claims

The complaint, brought by Pomerantz LLP, claims that Intuit executives overstated the sustainability of the company's business model and its ability to maintain momentum through artificial intelligence integration. According to the filing, these representations masked mounting competitive and pricing pressures that ultimately hampered revenue. Investors who purchased Intuit securities during the specified period have until September 8, 2026, to apply for lead plaintiff status.

The discrepancy between public guidance and internal performance became clear on May 20, 2026. Following news of a 17% workforce reduction and an earnings report that fell short of growth expectations, Intuit’s stock dropped significantly. During an earnings call that day, CEO Sasan K. Goodarzi admitted to dissatisfaction with the company’s performance, citing losses among price-sensitive filers. These revelations triggered a sharp decline, with shares falling 3.95% upon the news of layoffs and a further 20.02% the following day as the company adjusted its fiscal outlook.
