Wood Partners and Marcus Partners Break Ground in Apex

At the intersection of Jenks and Wimberly roads in Apex, North Carolina, a new 280-unit residential project is taking shape. Wood Partners and Marcus Partners have commenced construction on Altera Heights, a multifamily community designed to address the region’s surging demand for attainable housing near the Research Triangle Park.

The project represents a strategic expansion for both firms within the Raleigh-Durham corridor. While Wood Partners has maintained a steady pipeline in the area—marking their fourth local start in the last year—this development serves as the first ground-up project for Marcus Partners in the market. The community is slated for completion by the end of 2027 and will feature a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, including designated income-restricted housing.

Beyond residential units, the development will include a freestanding clubhouse, a resort-style pool, and dedicated co-working areas to cater to the area's growing professional workforce. According to Andrew Dolinsky, Partner at Marcus Partners, the project capitalizes on the region's strong market fundamentals and proximity to the life science and technology sectors. North Carolina remains a national leader in net domestic migration, a trend driving the rapid development of such multifamily assets across the state.
