The winning participant, determined by public vote, will receive a $25,000 prize and be featured in a limited-edition Stan Lee Universe comic book. The Stan Lee Universe creative team will transform the child’s personal story into an original superhero identity, while the winner also secures four VIP passes to the 2027 Los Angeles Comic Con. A second child, hand-selected by the creative team, will also earn a spot alongside the champion in the publication.
Support for the campaign comes from a high-profile roster of ambassadors, including Ming-Na Wen, Kevin Smith, and LeVar Burton. According to Chaz Rainey, managing director of The Stan Lee Foundation, the project mirrors Stan Lee’s philosophy that heroism is defined by how one uses their influence to assist others. Families can register children for free at thesuperkid.org, where they will build profiles and encourage supporters to cast daily votes. Funds raised through the competition will be processed by DTCare and granted to the foundation to further its mission of expanding access to creative education and mentorship.
