Harbour BioMed Taps Dr. Bob Zhang to Lead Metabolic Disease Expansion

The move signals a strategic shift for the Hong Kong-listed biopharmaceutical firm as it leverages its proprietary antibody discovery platforms to address growing global demand for metabolic therapies. Zhang brings over two decades of experience, including stints as CEO of Epigenic Therapeutics and Director of Translational Medicine at Sanofi. His mandate covers the entire lifecycle of the franchise, from research and portfolio management to strategic collaborations and NewCo incubation.

Harbour BioMed intends to utilize its specialized antibody technologies—including the Harbour Mice platform and AI-driven models—to create next-generation biologics. These tools aim to tackle complex mechanisms underlying metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and cardiovascular conditions, areas that remain high-priority for unmet medical needs. Zhang, who holds an M.D. from Dalian Medical University and a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney, will focus on translating these scientific capabilities into a differentiated clinical pipeline.
