Arcwood Environmental Acquires Maryland-based EMSI

With the acquisition of Rockville-based Environmental Management Services, Inc., Arcwood Environmental is widening its footprint across the Mid-Atlantic. The deal brings 42 specialized employees and a deep client roster to the Indianapolis-based firm, marking another step in its aggressive multi-year strategy to dominate the industrial waste management sector.

Arcwood Environmental Acquires Maryland-based EMSI

Founded in 1989, EMSI holds a long-standing reputation for navigating complex environmental regulations for pharmaceutical manufacturers, healthcare systems, and government agencies. Their expertise in 24/7 emergency spill response and safety consulting complements Arcwood’s existing waste treatment and disposal infrastructure. Arcwood CEO HP Nanda noted that the integration is designed to deliver greater technical depth to clients while leveraging the company's broader national network.

For owners Shobhana Sharma and Angela Sharma, the move provides their staff with the resources of a larger organization while maintaining continuity for existing accounts. This transaction follows a series of high-profile acquisitions for Arcwood over the last two years, including Safeway, EBV, MXI, and ERG Environmental Group. By absorbing these diverse entities, the company continues to consolidate its position as a primary provider of sustainable waste solutions for the manufacturing and chemical industries.
