Lyric Health Adds Asynchronous Messaging to Virtual Care Platform

McKinney-based Lyric Health has launched an asynchronous care feature, allowing patients to consult with providers via secure digital messaging. By integrating patient history with real-time intake data, the platform aims to bridge the gap between fragmented clinical information and the long wait times currently plaguing primary care appointments.

Lyric Health Adds Asynchronous Messaging to Virtual Care Platform

The platform moves beyond traditional video or telephone consultations by aggregating a patient's longitudinal health profile. Before a clinician responds, the system pulls data from previous virtual visits, electronic health records, pharmacy history, and wearable devices. CEO Rey Colón noted that the initiative addresses a fundamental information deficit in modern medicine, where providers often lack a complete view of a patient's history during brief interactions.

Patients initiate requests through a secure interface, providing symptoms and history for clinician review. If a condition proves too complex for text-based care, the system escalates the interaction to a live video or telephone consultation. This model is currently available to Lyric’s network of employers, health plans, and third-party administrators, providing an alternative to weeks-long waits for routine medical concerns.
