The newly acquired licence permits Bybit Payments GmbH to offer e-money and payment processing, functioning alongside the crypto-asset services already managed by its sister entity, Bybit EU GmbH. The latter has operated under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) framework since May 2025. By maintaining two distinct legal entities, the company ensures strict adherence to European regulatory requirements while providing a unified user experience on the Bybit.eu platform.
Georg Harer, managing director at both entities, stated that the move reflects a long-term commitment to the European market, positioning the platform to harmonize digital assets with conventional financial tools. For the company, the licence serves as a foundation for future capabilities, including person-to-person payments, open-banking integration, and potential card offerings. Bernhard Krick, managing director at Bybit Payments GmbH, emphasized that the structure allows the firm to reduce its reliance on third-party payment infrastructure while building deeper relationships with enterprise partners and financial institutions across the region.
