Chairman and CEO Maryann Mannen attributed the results to disciplined operational execution and the successful deployment of yield-enhancing capital projects. The Refining and Marketing segment saw its adjusted EBITDA climb to $6.7 billion, up from $1.9 billion in the second quarter of 2025. This growth was fueled by higher crack spreads across all regions and a refining margin of $36.33 per barrel.
Strategic investments also played a critical role in the quarterly performance. The company brought new yield-improvement projects online at its El Paso and Robinson refineries, enhancing its capacity to produce specialty gasolines and jet fuel. Meanwhile, its midstream subsidiary, MPLX, reported segment adjusted EBITDA of $1.8 billion, bolstered by increased throughput and strategic infrastructure expansion in the Permian and Marcellus basins. With $7.8 billion in cash and equivalents as of June 30, the company continues to prioritize capital allocation through both infrastructure investment and shareholder returns.
