The project integrates Leidos’ flight-tested sensors with onboard digital processing, allowing the satellites to generate mission-relevant tracking data in real time. By processing information directly on the spacecraft, the system reduces latency, delivering actionable intelligence to warfighters more efficiently than traditional ground-based relay methods. Leidos will also manage ground support equipment and provide ongoing mission sustainment throughout the deployment.
This agreement marks a significant expansion of Leidos' role in the Space Development Agency's proliferated architecture, following their work on Tranches 0, 1, and 2. Since 2023, four of the company's payloads have operated on orbit, providing real-world tracking data. This latest award aligns with the company's NorthStar 2030 strategy, shifting their focus from experimental technology demonstrations toward the delivery of fully operational missile defense constellations.
