Holland America Line Unveils Largest European Port Schedule in a Decade

Holland America Line is expanding its 2028 European season with the highest number of port calls the cruise operator has scheduled in nearly ten years. The program, which spans from January through early December, includes record-breaking visit counts to Norway, Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands across a five-ship fleet.

The 2028 itinerary features a return to the region for the Nieuw Amsterdam, which has not operated in European waters for over a decade. The ship will introduce signature amenities, such as the Morimoto by Sea restaurant, to the Mediterranean circuit. Beyond the Mediterranean, the fleet—comprised of the Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Volendam, and Zuiderdam—will navigate routes ranging from week-long getaways to 48-day Legendary Voyages.

Operational capacity focuses on seasonal immersion, with schedules timed to align with regional events like the Dutch tulip bloom in spring and Mediterranean winter escapes. The line has also recorded its highest number of scheduled visits to Norway since 2014 and a record six calls at Portofino. To support the expanded schedule, the company is offering early booking incentives, including prepaid crew appreciation and upgraded beverage and Wi-Fi packages for travelers securing their spots in advance.
