Target Expands Food Brand with First Cookbook

Target is entering the culinary publishing space with the release of "Good & Gather: Discover Delicious Every Day," a collection of 100 recipes designed for busy households. The cookbook aims to cement the retailer's position as a food destination by utilizing ingredients exclusively sourced from its own aisles.

Target Expands Food Brand with First Cookbook

Developed by the company's internal test kitchen, the book functions as a strategic extension of the Good & Gather label, which launched in 2019 and is on track to reach $4 billion in annual sales. The collection focuses on accessibility, featuring dishes like 15-minute potsticker soup and five-minute overnight oats, all crafted to accommodate standard home kitchens and everyday schedules.

John Conlin, senior vice president of food and beverage merchandising, described the project as a natural evolution for a brand that currently encompasses 2,500 products. By providing pre-tested recipes, Target is attempting to simplify meal planning while driving traffic to its grocery sections. According to Diane Douglas, director of food trend, the recipes prioritize efficiency by utilizing familiar appliances and pantry staples. The cookbook will be available for purchase in stores and online starting August 4.
