Parrish Medical Center Receives National Transparency Honor

Parrish Medical Center has secured the Full Transparency Badge from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit focused on healthcare safety. The award recognizes the Titusville-based hospital for its voluntary and complete public reporting of patient quality data, a practice that remains inconsistent across the broader American healthcare landscape.

Parrish Medical Center Receives National Transparency Honor

The Leapfrog Group, which maintains an independent database of hospital performance, grants this distinction only to facilities that submit comprehensive information through its annual survey. By participating, the hospital provides patients with clinical data that can influence decisions regarding their medical care.

George Mikitarian, president and CEO of Parrish Healthcare, noted that the achievement reflects a culture of openness that extends from the board of directors to the facility’s front-line staff. He suggested that some hospitals avoid this level of public scrutiny out of concern for their metrics, characterizing PMC’s voluntary disclosure as a commitment to accountability. Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, identified such transparency as a primary driver for systemic improvements in patient outcomes. The recognition adds to a list of existing distinctions for the hospital, including its status as a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center and a Surgical Quality Partner of the American College of Surgeons.
