CEO Michael Skipworth attributed the performance to strategic investments in flavor innovation and the company's "Smart Kitchen" technology, which aim to capture more dining occasions despite current pressure on consumer spending. While total revenue rose 6.4% to $185.6 million, the drop in same-store sales reflected lower transaction volumes across the domestic market.
Operational efficiencies helped buffer the bottom line, with cost of sales as a percentage of company-owned restaurant revenue falling to 73.3% from 75.2% a year ago, largely due to lower bone-in chicken wing costs. Looking ahead, the firm has updated its 2026 guidance, projecting a domestic same-store sales decline of 4% to 6%, while maintaining its target for 15% to 16% global unit growth. Shareholders will receive a quarterly dividend of $0.33 per share on September 5, 2026.
