GRAIL Faces Securities Fraud Lawsuit Following NHS-Galleri Trial Failure

Investors who suffered significant losses in GRAIL, Inc. are facing an August 4, 2026, deadline to seek lead plaintiff status in a newly filed securities fraud class action. The lawsuit alleges that senior executives misled shareholders about the clinical efficacy and design of the company’s landmark NHS-Galleri cancer screening trial.

The legal action centers on the period between May 13, 2025, and February 19, 2026. Plaintiffs contend that GRAIL touted a three-year follow-up period as sufficient to demonstrate a reduction in late-stage cancer diagnoses while allegedly concealing internal data suggesting that timeline was inadequate. The company reportedly emphasized favorable top-line results while failing to disclose limitations that undermined the study's primary endpoint.

Market confidence evaporated on February 19, 2026, when the company admitted the trial failed to meet its goals and acknowledged that the follow-up period should have been extended. This revelation triggered a sharp sell-off, with shares plummeting 50.55% in a single session. The stock dropped from $101.53 to $50.21, wiping out more than $2.2 billion in market value.

Reed Kathrein, the Hagens Berman partner heading the investigation, is now probing when exactly management realized the three-year duration was insufficient. Beyond the class action, the firm is encouraging whistleblowers with non-public information to come forward, citing potential SEC reward programs for those who provide original evidence of corporate misconduct.
