Youngstown State Expands Ohio Valley Presence Through Steubenville Site

As fall classes approach, Youngstown State University is cementing its footprint in Jefferson County. By merging local workforce training with a broader portfolio of online degree pathways, the institution aims to bridge the gap between regional labor demands and accessible higher education for students across the Ohio Valley.

Youngstown State Expands Ohio Valley Presence Through Steubenville Site

The Steubenville location serves as a physical anchor for students who might otherwise struggle to connect with the main campus in Youngstown. This site offers associate degrees in technical and high-demand fields, including nursing, radiologic technology, information technology, machining, and welding. These programs are designed to funnel students into bachelor’s degree completion tracks, providing a clear trajectory for local learners.

Provost Dr. Jennifer Adams emphasized that the strategy moves beyond simple infrastructure, focusing instead on creating sustainable opportunities for both students and regional employers. To support this growth, the university has leaned into its partnership with Risepoint, an education technology firm. This collaboration facilitates a suite of fully online bachelor’s and graduate programs, allowing working adults to pursue credentials with flexible start dates while maintaining access to the physical resources and support services provided at the Steubenville campus.
